The HZ was the final revision in the HQ series, and the first to have the Radial Tuned Suspension (RTS) which was fitted to all models as standard. The handling improvements made by the RTS saw the need for compeditiors to create their own improved suspension.
The Belmont was dropped, and the Kingswood SL was introduced.
Sandman Utes and Van’s came out with GTS trim and the 253 V8.
The HZ stayed in production until 1980, and was the last large holden made until 1988 with the release of the VN.
